Links of London Sale Nikita

Macy's donates $1 for each letter, up to $1million, to Make-Links of London Sale -Wish. For every letter received Friday -- Macy's National Believe Day -- an extra dollar will be given. Nikita's wish was one of six granted across the country today. Wishes are given to children ages 2 1/2 to 18 years old with life-threatening illnesses. The average cost of a wish is $3,400. In the past year, which ended Aug. 31, the local chapter has granted 697 wishes. "We have to believe for these kids, and what better time than this time of year to believe in the magic that good things will happen for Nikita," said Dana Antkowiak, marketing and communications coordinator for Make-A-Wish. "Each kid's wish is as unique as the child itself. This is my favorite part of my job, being here, seeing this wish come true and just seeing Nikita's face." Nikita was born premature and had some speaking problems. She had several operations on her mouth and has some vision problems from lazy eyes. She also has a seizure disorder. Nikita and her family members -- mother Jennifer Katana, 18-month-old brother Isaiah Katana, Aunt Marla Brumbaugh and Grandmother Sheryl Ingram -- arrived at Macy's Downtown store in a black stretch Links of London Earrings a bit after 10 a.m. Inside, they were greeted with signs proclaiming Nikita the princess. She was presented with a bouquet of colorful flowers, a tiara and a pink princess sash, then whisked away to a third-floor dressing room to be fitted in her outfit. Nikita had the date marked on her calendar for months. She continued to circle it to remind her family of the day she would become a princess. "I like this," said Nikita, as she exited the dressing room. "This is cool." A first-grader at George Washington Elementary School in McKeesport, Nikita's wish was to be a princess and to have her bedroom turned into a castle. That part of the wish is expected to be completed by the end of the month. She will have a new bed and dresser with roses carved into them and a crown on top. The ceiling will be painted to represent the sky, and one wall will picture an enchanted forest, says Remy Bibaud, a volunteer with Make-A-Wish. "The best part is to see these kid's faces," said Bibaud, who has been helping to grant wishes for 14 years. "Look, she is the perfect princess." Nikita went to makeup Links of London Pewter And White Friendship Bracelet for blue eyeshadow -- her favorite she said -- and lots of sparkle blush. "Her wish was to live as a princess. You know, the whole fairly tale thing," said her mother through tears, adding that she forgot to wear waterproof mascara. "We can't thank Make-A-Wish and Macy's enough," she said. "This is Nikita's dream. She has been through so much and endured so much that it is nice for her to spend a day not thinking about doctors and medication. To see her so happy...." Nikita smiled as Santa presented her with a Cinderella Barbie, Vera Wang Princess Perfume and glitter stickers. "This day was awesome," said her grandmother. "It was an extraordinary day. We will never be able to match it. She will never forget this." Nikita agreed. "This is awesome," she said as she sat in her princess throne, eating a peanut butter-and-jelly sandwich at the Tic Toc restaurant. "It really is."A frilly purple dress and sparkling silver tiara. Black sequin shoes, crisp white gloves, fluffy cape. And, of course, a pink magic wand. The only thing missing was the castle. But that's on its way. It's a picture-perfect fairy tale for a little girl named Nikita Lee. Today, the 7-year-old from McKeesport was treated as princess for a day by Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Links of London Pig Charm and Southern West Virginia and Macy's. Macy's "Believe"campaign invites children of all ages to mail letters to Santa through boxes at the stores. Macy's donates $1 for each letter, up to $1million, to Make-A-Wish. If he puts a large, sumptuous leather bag out on a shelf at his shoe and handbag boutique in Great Neck, N.Y., customers offer the standard, rational reply: How lovely, what a useful size, blah, blah, blah. Slap a bow on that baby, and it's a whole different story."Ohhh, it's so prettyyyyyy," says Dann, trailing off with as many y's in "pretty" as he can manage in one breath."When a woman sees a bow, it reminds her of her youth," he says. Bows represent freshness, femininity, perhaps a smidge of seduction. And they're everywhere this season. On dresses, T-shirts, handbags, hair clips. You name it.We dare you to head over to the mall and try to avoid them. They pop up on Prada's scrunchy travel ballet flats, Stuart Weitzman's black satin sandals, a Red Valentino wool Links of London Pink Heart Charm Bracelet toggle coat (with bows instead of horn closures)."This fall, there was a return to curvy, ladylike silhouettes, and the natural response of designers was to embellish shoes, bags and clothes with bows," says Lucky magazine accessories director Julia Kalachnikoff. "Bows are also always a prevalent trend for holiday."And no wonder, what with all the gift wrap people have laying about."Bows are very flirtatious," Dann says. "You kind of want to unwrap the bow to see what's hiding inside."Wes Welker doesn't plan on wearing sleeves. But the hard-nosed Patriots receiver isn't ruling it out, either."If I wear sleeves, you know it's cold," Welker said. "I'm not saying I'm not going to. But if I do, it means it's for my health."He may not be the only one making such a decision. While the Bears (9-3) present the Patriots (10-2) with a serious challenge today at 4:15 p.m., the doom-and-gloom weather forecast may make the game memorable for other reasons. At Soldier Field, analysts project 2 degrees with the wind-chill factor, as much as 5 inches of snow and wind gusts of up to 50 mph. Earlier in the Links of London Pink Heart Charm Signature Necklace, quarterback Tom Brady prepared to go gloveless on his throwing hand and wasn't concerned about the cold or possible snow."It's the wind that's the issue," Brady said. The National Weather Service in Chicago issued a "special weather statement" this week in preparation for a "winter storm watch."
