"Etsy is a little oversaturated with jewelry," E Charm said. Karen Hazen of Fredericksburg began making her own soap to provide her family with products that weren't loaded with harsh chemicals. "I looked at hygiene products and found that soap today is more of a detergent and dries your skin," she said. Laurie Fetsko, a F Charm who owns Grace's Books & Treasures in Eagle Village, suggested she sell some of her homemade soap in her store, and one of Fetsko's employees recommended she G Charm on etsy.com as well. Hazen has expanded her business since then, adding a line of fragrance-free soap for babies, soy candles made with thin wooden wicks that H Charm as they burn, and Alan's Catfish Bait Soap, which is based on an old family recipe. "It's what they used to use in the Depression," she said.
