Valor House is operated through a collaborative partnership between the Poverello Links of London Charms Inc. and Missoula Housing Authority The facility provides transitional housing for up to two years for chronically homeless veterans. There are 17 fully furnished apartments for single occupancy. Valor House provides a home to both male and female veterans. All basic needs are met through enrollment in the program, as described by the following: The VA provides full medical, mental health counseling, and substance abuse and dental treatment. The Links of London M Charm American Veterans van provides transportation for Valor House residents to medical appointments at the VA hospital at Fort Harrison in Helena. If veterans have no income, they do not have to pay rent; if they have income, rent is one-third of their income and is paid to Missoula Housing Authority as the landlord. There are no utility or parking costs, or costs for laundry, phone, cable or Internet. Bus passes are provided as needed. Access to food is provided. Full case management is provided in this program, with each veteran developing a client services need plan and listed goals. Residents meet weekly with the program manager to review Links of London Mobile Charm and receive resources, referrals and support in their efforts. The primary purpose of the Valor House program is to help veterans to accomplish goals necessary to obtain economic self-sufficiency, as well as to make lifestyle and health changes, and to gain education, training or skills that will help prevent future homelessness. Volunteerism and employment are a large part of this process. The veterans have individual needs and situations that are addressed in their service plans. Some veterans complete the program and move on within several months, others remain for a longer period. Since opening, Valor Links of London N Charm has provided housing and services for 42 homeless veterans.
