From the red carpet of Hollywood to the links of london sale pages of fashion magazines, the heel reigns supreme as the queen bee of footwear. Of course we know more sensible shoes are easier on our feet, yet still we seem drawn to footwear on the tall and glitzy side. As some shoe fans in the Top of Utah attest, there are plenty of reasons to fall for high heels. --They show off your legs. "When I wear flats, my legs look stubby and short," says Russell, of Ogden, "and when I wear high heels, they look longer and skinnier." The Weber Links of London Charms University graduate says she wears pumps to her bank job, but also favors heels with her skinny jeans, too. Flats with skinny jeans just don't cut it: "You can walk better, but you don't look as good." --They're sexy. Beyond enhancing your legs, being in heels pushes a woman's shoulders back, gives a little arch to her back and even "lifts your tush," says Lynette Robinson, owner of the formalwear shop The Gallery by Lynette in Riverdale. "What a heel does for a Links of London Karabiner Bangle figure is huge," Robinson says. --They're feminine. "A heel always makes a girl feel pretty, makes her feel girlie," says Shantell Thornock, manager of Forever Young Shoes in Ogden's Newgate Mall. Courtney Tietjen, a high school student shopping for heels for a school sweetheart dance, agrees. "I think they're really pretty and I just like wearing them because I feel all dressed up ... I just like the girlie feeling," says Tietjen, of Layton. Heels are an icon of sexiness and may even be viewed as "less serious" in a workplace setting, says Britney Larsen, a sales Links of London Allsorts 1 row bracelet at DSW shoe store in Layton.
