Nicki Scalamogna, manager of The Planet Pulse, said the store recently donated thousands of dollars in clothes, shoes and outerwear to the Aleppo-based World Vision Pittsburgh, which aims to "build a better world for children." The experience moved the owner Links of London Charms employees so much that now the store will serve as a funnel for other donations to the nonprofit agency. Ms. Scalamogna said owner Sophia Smith of Cranberry wanted to start the new year with a charitable effort and decided to clear out some of the merchandise in the store's "sale" room. "We needed to make room anyway. Why not help someone out at the same time?" she said. The shop, which opened about two years ago, sells an array of clothes and is known for being "very hip," Ms. Scalamogna said. Jeans prices range from $84 to $300, the average price hovering around $200, she said. She estimated the retail value of the donated items at about $133,000.
