Officers had been monitoring the swelling throngs since about 10 p.m. Wednesday. By 5 a.m. Thursday nearly 300 people were gathered outside the mall's several entrances. Some of those doorways were damaged when the crowds shoved against them, said workers who were repairing the doors. "It's Christmas madness," said Corey Seymour, 35, who said he came to the mall with his family to buy the footwear. "I think the shoes are great," said 28-year-old Javis Scott. "I want a pair. I have to have a pair." Scott said he had been waiting for the mall to open since about 5 a.m. After Links of London Black Friendship Bracelet mall opened, shoppers at several athletic shoe stores stood in long lines patiently to be allowed inside. They grinned, chatted on cell phones and eyed lucky patrons who came out of the store clutching the Jordans.
